School Girl / 女生徒

「School Girl」は、太宰治が1939年に発表した短編小説『女生徒』を、現代の東京を背景に再解釈したパフォーマンス／ビデオ作品です。

本作は、1939年の東京の街を歩く日本人の女子学生と、2025年のトルコに生きる若い女性という、決して出会うことのない二人の少女のあいだに対話を立ち上げます。

舞台上では、1939年のテキストが日本人俳優によって日本語で上演され、スクリーン上では、トルコ人俳優が自らの母語を用い、2025年の人物として登場します。（字幕あり）

異なる都市、異なる時代に生きながらも、彼女たちは共通する問題に直面しています。
それは、経済的困難、家族、将来への不安、孤独、そしてジェンダーに対する社会的期待です。

School Girl is a performance and video project developed during a residency at AIR 3331. Reinterpreting Osamu Dazai’s 1939 novella for contemporary Tokyo, the work establishes a dialogue between two girls who never meet: a Japanese schoolgirl walking through the streets of Tokyo in 1939, and a young woman living in Turkey in 2026.

On stage, a Japanese actor performs the 1939 text live in Japanese. On screen, a Turkish actor appears as a 2026 character, speaking in her own language with subtitles. Living in different cities and different times, they face similar concerns: financial hardship, family, fear of the future, loneliness, and expectations related to gender.
